Case Study: Designing Intelligent Controllers for Chromium Plating Tanks

Industrial plating requires exact timing to ensure chemical bonds achieve the proper thickness. Manual timing and oversight often lead to inconsistencies, wasted materials, and workflow inefficiencies.

Automated electronic controller box designed to regulate and time chromium plating tank processes for consistent material thickness in a manufacturing facility.

The Challenge

A factory specializing in metal finishing needed an automated solution to oversee their core operations. The ask was to design specialized controllers for their chromium plating tanks. They needed a system that could remove human error from the equation and standardise the finishing results.

The Engineering Solution

RLA Engineering developed a custom hardware solution to automate the timing and notification workflow of the plating process. We designed a controller box that dynamically calculated the required time for plating to reach the required thickness and subsequently issued audible and visible alarms when the process was completed.
