Case Study: Electronic Control Boards for Benchtop Laser Etching Machines

Bringing specialized industrial machinery to the commercial benchtop market requires miniaturizing complex electronic controls without sacrificing power or precision.

Custom-engineered electronic printed circuit control boards (PCBs) powering the precise laser firing and mechanical positioning of a benchtop laser etching machine.

The Challenge

A manufacturing client aimed to launch a new product and required engineering assistance to design control boards for laser etching machines that used lasers to etch/score text and graphics into various glass and crystal trophy structures. The electronics needed to precisely dictate the laser's firing sequence and physical movement within a compact form factor.

The Engineering Solution

RLA Engineering provided comprehensive electronic design services to bridge the gap between the mechanical hardware and the software logic. We designed a precise set of electronic boards used directly in the benchtop product. These custom controllers ensured accurate synchronization between the laser components and the mechanical positioning systems.
